  1. R6 Mark III owners, do you actually use the 40fps?

This is exactly why I don't touch it at weddings. 12fps mech, or low burst for the processional. Only time I go electronic is when the officiant asks for silent. Nobody's paying me for 40 frames of…

  2. Camera for my son for Christmas, wait for Black Friday or buy now?

If it's a gift with a deadline, no. I buy gear for the business every year and the pattern is always the same. The popular kits sell through in the last week of November, and by early December…

  3. R8 Mark II finally gets IBIS and a joystick. Retro styling yay or nay?

Used R6 II if you care about battery life, two card slots and handling. R8 II if you care about weight. I'd take the R6 II. Both have IBIS now, so that's not the decider anymore.

  4. r6 for hockey, upgrade to used r6 ii or new r8 ii?

R6 II all day for hockey. Bigger battery, dual card slots, and a better grip with a 70-200 hanging off it. The R8 II finally got IBIS but it's still built around a smaller body. I've shot a lot of…

  5. R8 Mark II finally gets IBIS and a joystick. Retro styling yay or nay?

  7. Gimbal or just IBIS for walking shots at car shows?

Hey now. Bro, gimbal is the right tool for smooth walking shots tho. IBIS is great at rotation but it can't really take out the up and down bounce from your steps.

  8. R6 V with no viewfinder and no mechanical shutter. Has Canon lost the plot?

As promised. Two weddings in and my video guy loves it. No heat warnings in a stuffy barn in June, the screen's fine indoors and he runs a monitor outside anyway. I still wouldn't shoot stills on it.

  9. R6 V with no viewfinder and no mechanical shutter. Has Canon lost the plot?

Update: my video guy ordered one. Arrives next week. I'll report back after the first wedding with it. It's a hot barn venue in June, so if anything's going to find out about the fan it's that.

  10. B-cam for the channel: R6 V, Nikon ZR, or just stay Sony?

Man, I run an R6 II and R6 III side by side at weddings and even same brand there's a small shift between them. Not huge, but enough that a bride watching her first dance film notices her dress go a…
