QuestionZ9 got another firmware with AF changes. Z8 owners still waiting?

Saw the Z9 crowd are getting another firmware update with some autofocus changes in it. Haven't seen a thing for the Z8 yet. Historically we've trailed the Z9 by a few months so I'm not losing sleep over it, but curious if anyone's heard anything.

FWIW my Z8 with the 180-600 has been doing just fine on the hummingbirds at the feeder this winter, so this is more nosiness than need. Mostly I'd like to know before I spend a morning out at Sweetwater and then find out there was an update sitting there waiting for me.

Not a Z8 owner, but us Z6 III folks are just happy when we get anything! I'll give Nikon this, they've been pretty good about keeping the older bodies updated, which is more than I can say for my old point and shoot that never got a single one.

Walt, if it does show up, let us know if the bird detection changes at all. I'm always curious whether the improvements trickle down to the rest of us eventually.

Usually Z8 gets same features some weeks or months later. Same processor in both, so it is question of time, not hardware.

With Z6 III it was similar, I got some features in firmware that I did not expect when I bought it, it was nice surprise. Nikon is quite good with this compared to some other brands I think.

Still on a D850 here so my firmware updates come about once a decade lol. Last one I installed I had to look up how to do it because I'd forgotten. Walt, let us know when the Z8 one lands, I'm nosy too.
