- Critique please! First time shooting a car meet at night
The Supra one is the keeper, people > cars every time. For the orange, shoot raw and pull the white balance down toward 3000K in post, it won't be perfect under sodium because that light is…
Post #2, in Showcase - Z5IIc announced, the Z5 II with no viewfinder. Who is this for?
Tripod for night stuff, honestly makes sense. I compose astro on the rear screen anyway, nobody is looking through a viewfinder at 1am at a black sky. Tilt the screen up, magnify on a bright star…
Post #8, in Nikon - Do I need a faster lens or just a darker sky? (Leeds, so: sky)
Wide and slow is fine if you stack. Shoot 20 frames at 13 seconds and stack them in Siril or Sequator and the noise drops right off. Kit lens, free software, cheap thrills. Why did the astronomer's…
Post #5, in Astro - First ever Milky Way, too noisy or am I being dramatic
Wide and slow is fine if you stack, I do it with a 14-30 f/4 all the time and nobody's ever looked at one and said "shame about the aperture". Welcome to the hobby that wrecks your sleep schedule…
Post #5, in Showcase - Adobe buying Topaz Labs?? What happens to perpetual licences
Nothing new on this that I've seen, still just the one report going around and nothing from either company. Either it's being kept very quiet or somebody got it wrong. Back to my regularly scheduled…
Post #11, in Editing & Software - Adobe buying Topaz Labs?? What happens to perpetual licences
Fair, not that I can find either. Did a bit more digging and everyone's quoting the same original story. Treat it as rumour till somebody official says so, and apologies if I got anybody worked up…
Post #7, in Editing & Software - Adobe buying Topaz Labs?? What happens to perpetual licences
That's about all I need honestly, my D850 isn't getting any newer. Neither am I. Installer downloaded, key in my password manager. If it stops working one day I'll go back to stacking more frames…
Post #4, in Editing & Software - Focus stacking spring wildflowers: in-camera focus shift or Helicon?
Bloodroot! Now that's a flower name with some attitude. I use Helicon for stacked landscapes, same idea. The trial is free, so run this weekend's batch through it before you pay anybody anything…
Post #6, in Macro - Z9 II no-show again. Buy a Z8 now or keep waiting?
Final update. Went to the shop Saturday, held the Z8, it's a beautiful thing and the AF is everything you all said. Tracked a kid on a scooter across the parking lot like it was nothing. Then on the…
Post #29, in Nikon - Z9 II no-show again. Buy a Z8 now or keep waiting?
Every one of you has told me to sell a different camera. Most helpful thread I've ever started.
