Been using pre-release capture at the feeders and I'm drowning in frames. Currently set to 1 second at 30fps, which means every press dumps 30 frames I don't need before the action even starts. Anyone dialed this in for small fast birds? I'm wondering if half a second is plenty, or if the hummers are quicker than my reflexes. And before anybody says it, no, I don't think it's cheating.
For context I'm running C30 with the 180-600 at the long end, about twelve feet from the feeder, 1/4000, f/6.3, auto ISO. Most of my presses are when a bird starts to back off the feeder, which is the shot I want, wings open and tail fanned.
