DiscussionStill no X-T6. Buy an X-T5 on Black Friday or am I going to regret it?

I said in the other thread I wasn't buying anything until Fuji announced something. That was a month ago. Nothing, and now the reports say it might not be this year at all.

I have an X-T50 and I like it, but I want the dials, a proper grip and weather sealing for winter here. If the X-T5 drops for Black Friday I'm tempted to just get it and stop checking rumor sites every morning. My worry is the X-T6 shows up in January and the X-T5 tanks on resale.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Do it!! The X-T5 is so good and the dials alone make it worth it over the X-T50 for me. Same sensor so all your recipes carry straight over. I'm running this on everything right now:

Reala Ace, Grain Weak Small, Color Chrome Effect Weak, Color Chrome FX Blue Off, WB Auto -1 Red 0 Blue, DR200, Highlight -1, Shadow -0.5, Color +1, Sharpness -1, Clarity 0, ISO Auto up to 6400, Exposure +1/3

True, it's more the resale. I usually sell stuff on after a couple of years, and I took a real hit on my X-S10 when the X-S20 came out. That's probably why I'm being so paranoid about it this time.

I am a bit in the same boat, with my X-S20 I want something with better sealing for the coast, but bueno, I think Fuji will price the X-T6 very high anyway, like the X-T5 was at the start, so the X-T5 at a good price is the smart buy. I will wait to see Black Friday and decide then, maybe used like mfrost says.

That's what I'm afraid of. Last year I don't remember much Fuji being discounted here either, maybe a lens bundle with the 18-55 that I don't need. Might just start looking at used now and stop pretending a deal is coming.

It won't tank. Honestly, look at what happened to X-T4 prices when the X-T5 came out. They dipped for a couple of months and then sat there, because loads of people want the older body with the flip screen and the cheaper price. Same thing every generation, with every brand. The people who lose money are the ones who buy new at full price the month before the replacement arrives, and even then it's a couple of hundred, not half.

For reference, used X-T5 bodies are going for about £1,050-1,100 on the usual sites at the moment, which is a fair bit under new. No idea what that is in Canadian money, or whether your used market is anything like ours mind.

And I say all this as someone who doesn't even shoot Fuji. I just look. Constantly. My partner thinks I've got a second family on MPB. It's a problem

I waited a year for my X100VI because of exactly this kind of thinking and I don't regret the camera, but I wouldn't do the waiting again. The waiting is worse than just buying lol

OK, went through the used listings over the weekend. There's a mint one locally, under 3k shutter count, $1,650 CAD with two batteries. Going to look at it Tuesday. If it's as described I think I'm done waiting.

Picked it up. Clean as described, sensor spotless, and the guy threw in a cheap L bracket. Sold the X-T50 to a coworker the same week so I barely lost anything. Rumor sites are out of my bookmarks. We'll see how long that lasts.
