seeing reports Sony are bidding to take over Tamron, they already own a fair chunk of them apparently, so what happens to all the Tamron stuff for Nikon and Fuji, and the APS-C ones we finally got on RF after years of waiting, if Sony own them are they really going to keep making lenses for everyone else, or is this the end of cheap Tamrons for anyone not on Sony, genuinely asking mate not trying to start a brand war
DiscussionSony buying Tamron?? whats that mean for the rest of us

Honestly if it means more Tamrons for E mount Im not complaining, but I do feel for you lot. My 70-180 is the best £1,049 I never needed to spend
As far as I read nothing is decided yet. And Sony also makes sensors for Nikon, business is business. If the Z lenses sell well, they will continue. But I agree it is not good for competition if it happens.
My 28-75 G2 is the only zoom I own and it's a Tamron. If Sony slaps a G on it I'm fine with that. Price goes up 30% though, watch.

fair point that tbf, hadnt thought of it like that
IMHO it's less dramatic for Nikon folks than it sounds. Nikon's own Z 28-75 f/2.8 is a Tamron design with a Nikon badge on it, and Nikon has plenty of good glass of its own. If that pipeline dries up we lose a few budget zooms, not the farm. Canon shooters, I'm sorry, you were already locked out of most of the fun...

at nikon prices aye. same story as the viltrox business back in march, the cheap options keep getting squeezed
Not much point guessing until there's an actual deal on paper. Plenty of takeovers end up changing nothing for years, and Tamron selling lenses for Nikon and Fuji makes money whoever owns them. If anything changes it'll be slow and you'll hear about it long before your lens stops working... cheers

Fuji shooters have the 17-70 and the 18-300 from Tamron and that's about it. We'll survive.
If they mess with the Sigma 18-50 I'm riotting. Tamron can do what they like

Sigma is a different company, so your lens is safe.
I know dmitri lol. Sigma's next is what I'm saying
