Finally sold the D750 (still the best camera Nikon ever made, fight me) and picked up a used Z6 II with the FTZ, kept the 70-200. Plan was to add a couple of cheap AF primes, Viltrox or whoever, instead of paying Nikon prices. Now I'm reading Nikon's in some patent row with Viltrox and a few Meike and Sirui Z lenses have been pulled from shops?? Is that right or just the rumour sites. Bloody typical, wait years to switch and they start pulling the drawbridge up the week I do

From what I read it is reports, not anything official from Nikon, about some legal action and some lenses removed from shops. I would not panic. Also honestly, Z glass is the best reason to be in Nikon. The 40mm f/2 is cheap and very nice, you don't need Viltrox for a small prime.

This is why I'm on Sony honestly. Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox, Samyang, everyone makes E mount. The Tamron 70-180 I keep looking at is about half the GM price and I genuinely can't tell the difference in the reviews. Nikon and Canon locking things down only works if their own lenses are good value, and honestly the Z stuff mostly is, so you might be fine Dave

Dave, welcome to Z, you'll like it. FWIW the FTZ II plus F-mount glass covers most of what those third-party AF primes would do for you, and used F Nikkors are cheap right now with everybody dumping DSLR kit. A 50 1.8G goes for peanuts and focuses just fine on the adapter. I ran my 200-500 on the FTZ for two years before the 180-600 came out and never felt short-changed. IMHO don't let the lawyers spoil the fun...

I'm with Walt. The FTZ was the best money I spent on the Z7 II... it turned my whole F drawer into Z lenses overnight. Also the only adapter that's ever made me feel younger. My 20-year-old 80-200 push-pull focuses on it, slowly, like me getting out of a chair, but it focuses. Dave, the AF-S lenses are the ones you want on the FTZ, the old screw-drive ones go manual.
