QuestionA7 IV firmware update pulled? Mine's still on the old version

Wanted to put the new A7 IV firmware on my backup body before a run of holiday headshot days, the one with the newer AF and the C2PA content credentials. Went to the Sony support page last night and it isn't listed anymore. The updater I downloaded a couple of weeks ago is gone too because I clean out my downloads folder every Friday, which this week was a mistake.

Has it actually been pulled or am I looking at the wrong region's page? Not urgent, the camera works fine as is. I just don't like my two bodies being on different AF behaviour if I can avoid it.

It's been paused. There was a short notice on the US support page last week with no reason given. I'd put mine on before that and it's been fine for me, for what it's worth. If you didn't install it I'd just wait for them to put it back up rather than hunting for a copy.

Thanks, that's what I'll do. Not installing something from a forum mirror the week before 40 headshots. If it's not back by January I'll ask the Sony rep at the next trade event.

Sony pausing something they're not happy with is more care than I'd have expected, to be honest... better that than leaving it up and hoping. My A7 III has been on the same firmware for years and I've never missed anything.

Sorry to bring this back up. I've just bought a used A7 IV and the support page now shows a new firmware version available. Is this the one that was paused, and is it safe to install? I've never updated a camera before.

Yes, it went back up this month. Full battery, format a card in the camera, follow the steps on the page exactly and don't switch it off halfway. Takes a few minutes. You'll be fine.

After it's done, go through your AF settings once. A couple of the subject detection options moved around on mine and it's worth knowing where they are before your next match rather than during it.
