Good morning. I have used an LX100 II in the garden for several years and it has been a faithful companion.

I see Panasonic have announced the L10, which I gather is its successor: a Micro Four Thirds sensor, a 24-75mm equivalent Leica lens at f/1.7-2.8, and $1,499. I have not yet seen the UK price.

Is it worth upgrading, or should I simply carry on with the old one? I mostly photograph roses and the odd bee.

For bees I'd want to know how close it focuses (that's the bit compacts usually skimp on) before deciding. The LX100 II already gets pretty close at the wide end, so check that spec before anything else.

Also (and this is the macro nerd in me talking) a faster lens doesn't help you much with bees, you'll be stopped down anyway to get the whole bee sharp. So if the main draw is the brighter lens, it may not change your rose and bee pictures as much as you'd hope.

Thank you both. I have since heard they are very hard to come by, so the decision has rather been made for me. The LX100 II continues.
