Hi all! Brand new here. I've been watching a ton of YouTube and I'm ready to buy my first real camera. It's between the Canon R50 and the R10. Budget is about $900 including a lens.

I mainly want to take pictures of my kids and our trips, we go to the Grand Canyon and San Diego a lot. One video said the R10 is better because of the joystick and another one said the R50 is better for beginners. Also is full frame worth saving for?? Everyone says full frame is way better. Thanks!!

Fellow Arizonan here. The Grand Canyon doesn't care what sensor you have, IMHO. It cares whether you're on the rim at sunrise instead of noon. Get the R50, get there early, and bring water.

The one thing I'd think about is the lens. The 18-150 kit covers a lot more than the little 18-45 if you're doing trips, and it saves you swapping lenses in the dust.

R10 if you think you'll ever want to shoot sport or birds, its got a better grip and the extra dial, R50 if you just want something light for family stuff, which it sounds like you do tbf, I had the 90D before the R7 and grip matters with bigger lenses, not so much with the kit one
